THE CATHARTIC CHRONICLE

YOUNG HEALER SAVES THE LIFE OF HIGHBORN!

 JULIETTE RENARD

The name of the dutiful healer who couldn't imagine her routine being twisted so dramatically. While returning home after a search for medicinal herbs, Juliette stumbled upon a gruesome sight: blood soaked snow, four dead men, and a dead yeti. A survivor among them tending to one of the bodies with meager supplies prompted Juliette to investigate, and upon realizing that the man was not yet a corpse, she immediately set to work. "A true prodigy, if I've ever seen one," said the surviving guardsman. "Lord François surely would have perished that day if that woman didn't cross our path. A blessing from the Fury, no doubt."

R: So, Julie, how do you feel knowing that Lord François will live another day thanks to your efforts? Oh, is it fine if I call you Julie?
R: I could only imagine! It's not everyday one saves such an important life. You know, his guardsman actually claimed your skill is on par with a veteran chirurgeon, how is that possible for someone so young?

R: Is that so? Your family is a shining example of Ishgardian medical care, then! What other interesting things can you tell us about yourself, Julie?

J: Ah, yes, I suppose that's all right. As for Lord François, quite happy, to say the least. I will admit I am a bit overwhelmed by the thanks I received from his house.

J: (Chuckles) I wouldn't go as far as to say that, but a lot of my skill comes from my father, you see. He's a healer, born and raised right here in Ishgard.

J: What else? Well, there's a few things that come to mind, to be frank. Where should I begin?

Name    Juliette Renard  Age    25 Summers  Race    Hyur Midlander  Gender    Female  Height & Weight    5 Fulm, 2 Ilms | 136 Ponze  Eye Color    Pale Blue  Hair Color    Platinum Blonde  Birthplace    The Holy See of Ishgard  Occupation    Apothecary  Background    A young woman hailing from the frigid, city state of Ishgard, Juliette Renard is a healer of exceptional skill. As the daughter of an Ishgardian apothecary, this young woman's heritage is apparent with her accent and the Halonic symbolism on the trinkets she wears—with her having a notably tired and dreary appearance to match. Said appearance often betrays her demeanor, however, and obscures her more bookish tendencies. She can be amiable and high-strung, analytical and awkward, and eager to prove her knowledge in her field... especially if doubted. Much of her time is spent running her family's business: Renard's Apothecary—a small, but reliable establishment known to many locals. Juliette, however, is a workaholic, as one would be hard-pressed to find her anywhere but her apothecary, but there are times when work requires travel. It's often in these moments that her talents and quirks are made apparent to those she meets.

R: ...I see, I see. You have quite the background, Julie. You're definitely far more busy than the average Ishgardian.

R: Beautiful as well as kindhearted! Truly, you embody our wonderful city's values to the letter. If only lowborn could be as capable as you. (Chuckles)

R: Anyway, what about interests, Julie? What are things that just call out to you? Hook you in, in a sense?

J: That is... one thing I'll agree on. It certainly isn't easy helping so many people, but the satisfaction felt after doing so? It's unparalleled.

J: Ah, perhaps. You flatter me, sir, truly you do.

J: Interests? My mind is occupied with work so often I neglect thinking about these things, but I suppose some of them involve...

The Healer  It's no secret that Juliette is a healer, or specifically, an apothecary. It's likely one of the first things a person would learn about her, especially if they managed to read this particular issue of the Cathartic Chronicle. Knowledgeable on herbal remedies and confident in applying both magical and mundane healing techniques, this woman is exceedingly gifted in her craft—so much so that some local healers look upon this young woman with jealousy and suspicion. Renard's Apothecary   Founded by an eccentric healer with a love for medicine, Renard's Apothecary is a small establishment determined to provide general care regardless of financial status. Despite its noble intentions, however, rumors from common folk and highborn alike give it a mixed reputation. It's a haunted house that was host to a foul ritual, yet a place touched by Halone herself. It's a business struggling to stay afloat, yet a shining example of Ishgardian medicine. Surely such conflicting rumors are just that, rumors and nothing more.

Her Aether  To those aware of such, Juliette's aether is notable in two aspects: quantity and sensitivity. Though not a battlemage by any means, her reserves easily surpass that of the average spellcaster and rival the likes of more formidable mages. Along with this, it seems to be particularly receptive to other aether sources, lending Juliette some amount of awareness to more subtle details in her environment. Rarely, this oddity allows her to notice things that would rather stay hidden. Odd Jobs  Managing a business isn't easy, especially when there's only one person around to do it. Along with Juliette's infrequent advertisements urging any and all to buy from her apothecary, there are also postings offering coin in exchange for alchemical ingredients, tomes harboring either medical or magical knowledge, and rarely—instruction on creating various niche potions from individuals far more experienced than herself. It's usually not much coin, but it's enough to make the offers attractive on some level.

Hi, thank you for looking over my carrd! Making these kind of things isn't my specialty, but as time goes on and Juliette grows as character, I may look to occasionally update, improve, or completely change this stuff around. For now, here are a few general thoughts and ideas that are good to know...▪ For one, I am 21+ and I strongly prefer my RP partners to be adults as well. My time zone is also PST.▪ If you see me, don't be afraid to reach out! Collaborative storytelling is a huge hobby of mind, and I'd always love to find more people to write with—regardless if our characters don't particularly get along. Yes, I'm also a moon code user, and I'm open to exchanging codes if we end up roleplaying!▪ A variety of roleplay themes are fine with me. I'm happy to engage in outright goofy and lighthearted scenes, but I'm also a huge fan of tragedy in stories as well. Dark, depressing, and even violent scenarios are acceptable so long as they're agreed upon and handled thoughtfully. If you're unsure, don't hesitate to ask.▪ I'm also fine with being reached on discord, but more for organizing or chatting rather than roleplay. If you'd like to add me, /tell me in game and ask! Don't worry, I'm nice, and the only people I know I won't get along with are bigots.▪ Finally, I'm not a fan of OOC drama or weirdness. I'm not my character, and what she does or says isn't indicative of how I feel about something. If you have questions, concerns, issues, or anything else, make sure to communicate it with me. At the end of the day, we're here to have fun.
